The dimensions are 4 3/8 x 3 inches. The Osaka Cycling Association sponsored Sunday Morning Cycling for the public at large. The participants met in a large park and started the event with stretching exercises to music that was played over a PA System. Goto Basket Co was owned and operated by Mr. and Mrs. Goto. The showroom and warehouse was a modern facility adjacent to their home. The baskets were designed in the office, then produced by home-workers in the surronding areas. A Goto employee would deliver the raw materials to the various home-workers and pick-up the finished baskets, which would be packaged for export in the warehouse. Yasuyuki Goto, their youngest child, currently owns a retail bike shop in Nagoya. The dimensions are 3 x 4 1/4 inches. [Item# 1969c GotoBaskets3]

Bob Hansing, my brother Leo Jr and I were in Japan for the International Cycle Show. This 1970 picture was taken in the Kobe home of Yukio (aka Higesan) and Takako Kawamura where we had a lovely dinner party. Higesan was the then president of Kawamura Sangyo Co, the producers of our American Eagle and Nishiki bicycles.

When I was visiting Japan to conduct our bicycle business I often times would join some of the industry leaders and the local Osaka Cycling Club for their Sunday Morning Ohayo Cycling. This photo was taken while we were preparing to leave the park for a several hour bike ride to a Mandarin Orange Grove. L-R Unknown gent, Kozo Yoshigai (Dia-Compe), Yasushi Sugino (Sugino cranks & chainrings), Ozaki-san (chief engineer at SunTour), me (Howie Cohen of WCCSC), and Junzo Kawai (SunTour-Maeda Industries). After a business meeting at the Maeda Industries office in Sakai, Osaka, Japan, Howie was often invited to have dinner at the home of then president, Junzo Kawai (aka Jun-chan). This photo was taken in the backyard garden of the Kawai home. (L to R) Jun-chan, Mrs. J.Kawai (Kei) & Howie. Kay & Howie were in Japan in August of 2000 for the 11th ICHC (International Cycle History Conference) which was graciously hosted by Shimano at their Sakai headquarters. The Shimano company hosted our group very lavishly. They supplied us with rooms for our meetings, audio & visual equipment for our presentations, a lovely buffet lunch every day for the three days, a tour of portions of the factory, a tour of the new Shimano Museum, a gala dinner party on August 25th, and more. Ken Fujimura (an old friend of Howie`s) of Shimano Co.was always in the background to make certain that all of our needs and desires were met. Mike Sumita (another old friend of Howie`s) stopped by for a greeting.

Kay & Howie were in Japan in August of 2000 for the ICHC (International Cycling History Conference) which was held at the Shimano facility in Sakai, Osaka, Japan. We stayed on for a week after the Conference ended so we could visit with some of our Japanese bicycle industry friends. This picture was taken at a dinner party arranged by the Kitaguchi family. The venue is the Hotel where Kay & I spent the night. We are sitting agura on the tatami mats.
