Tanko Bushi, An old Japanese Folk Song about the Moon and a Coal Miner |
This image is of the English pronunciation (romaji) of Tanko Bushi, an old Japanese folk song. Howie`s teachers of several of the old Japanese folk songs were Katchan Kitaguchi (Taihei Saddle) and Yukio `Hige-san` Kawamura (Kawamura Cycles). There is a specific dance associated with this song and we often sang the song and did the dance after a dinner in a Japanese tatami room. The words on this Taihei note paper were hand written by either Katchan or his son, Naoya. Other old folk songs that we sang were Kuroda Bushi. Kusatsu Bushi & others. See the picture gallery.
