The Longmont Museum and Cultural Center- Longmont, Colorado |
This is one of the six panels of the tri-fold brochure which was published by The Longmont Museum and Cultural Center. The brochure was distributed widely in the Boulder County and Denver areas. The museum did an exhibit of bicycles and the history of bicycles and bicycling which was on display from April 24, 2010 to July 3, 2010. About 18 items from Howie`s collection were used. Other collectors who`s items were exhibited included: Dan & Cheri LePro, Jeff Nye, Ron Keifel (Wheat Ridge Cyclery), Peter Chisolm (Vecchios Cycles), Doug Emerson (University Bikes), Brad Evans (Kickstand Magazine), John Siegrist (Dean Bicycles), Marianne Martin, Rick Emerson (Bike-N-Hike), Andy Hampsten, Jacob Castillo (Panda Bicycles), Vance Sprock (Cupertino Bike Shop), Bryan Harrell, Charlie Kelly, Andy Pruitt, and several others. The display was beautifully and professionally exhibited; any museum would be proud to show an exhibit as excellent as this. There are many small museums located in cities throughout the United States; I encourage you to contact the curator or manager of a museum near you and suggest that they consider hosting an exhibit of bicycles and transportation in their facility. The beautiful bike on the front cover belongs to Dan & Cheri LePro; it is a 1934 Schwinn Aerocycle. The tricycle is a reproduction of a 1938 Sky King tricycle. [Item# Longmont Museum-10] |

USA Chico Museum 2012 Exhibit THE BICYCLE: LIFE ON TWO WHEELS |
A postcard sent to Howie by by the Chico Museum located in Chico, California. The staff (including Melinda Rist and curator Heather McCafferty) assembled and designed a large exhibit which they named THE BICYCLE: LIFE ON TWO WHEELS. The project was underway in January of 2012 at which time Dennis Hansing (good old friend and Chico resident) told me about the plans. I contacted Heather and offered to supply some materials for their exhibit. This postcard, an invitation to a Private Opening Reception, was mailed to a select group. The exhibit opened to the public on March 3 and will run through July 2012. Additional text and pictures pending. [Item# USA 2012 Chico Mus] |

USA Pennsylvania Dutch Candies and Antique Bike Museum |
A postcard advertising the Pennsylvania Dutch Candies & Food Store & antique bicycle museum located in Holly Springs, Pa (near to Carlisle). This Store & Museum were owned at one time by the Carroll Warrell family. Carroll was the president of Carlisle Tire & Rubber Co years ago. His father, Joni Warrell was also president of Carlisle during the 1950s & 1960s. Howie has visited the Carlisle factory on two occasions; we were Distributors for Carlisle & we purchased their tires & tubes in rail cars weighing about 45,000 lbs at one time. I recall the many rail cars that my brother & I unloaded at our warehouse. See the picture gallery for the image of the reverse side. [Item# USA PennDutchCandy] |
