Everything Bicycles - : 1886 `UPATREE MARCH` Music with the Wilkes-Barre Wheelmen at Bear Creek, PA,: Trees with Bicycles (CycleTree)
more details
1886 `UPATREE MARCH` Music with the Wilkes-Barre Wheelmen at Bear Creek, PA,
This is an unusual category but because I know of several appropriate items, I decided to include the category in this collection. This photo was taken from the front cover of a piece of sheet music published in 1896; UPATREE MARCH by J.I.Alexander, band master of the 9th Reg`t Band in Wilkes-Barre, PA. The picture is of the WILKES-BARRE WHEELMEN at Bear Creek, PA, taken on April 19, 1896. There are two Safety`s and a Tandem up the tree with about 16 of the cyclists. The balance of the cyclists and bikes are gathered around the base of the tree. This piece of music is dedicated to the Officers and Members of the 9th Reg`t Band. The original Sheet Music is in this collection, number U-SM-111 in the category of `SHEET MUSIC-ANTIQUE`. [Item# CycleTree-103]

Everything Bicycles - : Kay and Howie`s Home in Breckenridge, CO with a Classic Bike in the Back Yard Tree: Trees with Bicycles (CycleTree)
more details
Kay and Howie`s Home in Breckenridge, CO with a Classic Bike in the Back Yard Tree
Chris Ethridge, Hal Clark and 2 or 3 additional volunteer firemen kindly placed (wedged) one of my old unrestored classic bikes into the `Y` of a tall lodgepole pine tree in the back yard of our Breckenridge, CO home. They used 2 very tall ladders and bravely manipulated the bike into a great position. It is a little higher than the 2nd floor of our house. We were having a yard party that day and therefore the canopy extending the breeze way. Notice the 14 additional unrestored classic bikes hanging on the rack behind the `Bike Garage`. See the picture gallery for addition views. [Item# CycleTree-105]

Bicycle in Tree by Tim Potter at MSU
Tim Potter at MSU kindly sent this picture to me; it is posted on the MSU web site. Tim`s message to me is:
You`ve got some interesting categories in your collection! Well, I`ve got another photo for your `bikes in trees`. I took this photo on our campus a couple springs ago for a `signs of springtime on campus` series that I launched to try inspire others to shoot other spring-time bike-related photos.

http://www.bikes.msu.edu/photo_gallery/spring-time/index.html

Not nearly as exciting as your other photos, but it qualifies! and was not set-up in any way. I photographed it as I found it.
Thanks for the contribution Tim, I like the photo!

This meaningful image was found on the internet in 2012. Thanks to Terry & Mark for passing it along to me. I am always amazed when I see how trees embrace bicycles; it happens more often than one would think. [Item# CycleTree-121]
