| An especially beautiful Christmas Tree Ornament designed by The Smithsonian Institution and produced by the Baldwin Hardware Corp of Reading, PA. The image printed on a ceramic tile is titled KIDS ON BIKE; they are on a tandem with the words A MERRY CHRISTMAS printed below the front wheel. This ornament depicts an image derived from the Litzinger Collection of Postcards, part of the Archives Center of the Smithsonian National Museum. I have two of the postcards in this collection; see POSTCARDS-ANTIQUE, item #USAHoldyXmas 015. The dimensions of the brass frame are 3 1/4 x 2 1/2 inches. See the picture gallery. | Produced in the 1970`s by a customer of Jax Bike Shop in Long Beach, CA. I recall that the material is aluminum and the design has been laser cut. They were originally exposed to me as earings but I think they also make attractive Xmas Tree Ornaments. The hooks for attaching to pierced ears (or hanging from the tree, if you will) are attached through a tiny hole drilled in the toptube.
