Sugino produced a very full range of cranks, chainwheels and related parts. Their products were of the highest quality and the selection of styles was huge. The factory had the latest equipment and knowledgeable engineers. Yasushi Sugino, the founder and president for many years was a kind, soft spoken and passionate man. I met him at a time when I could not yet speak Japanese and he could not yet speak English; we went to dinner together at Kawafuku restaurant and somehow communicated using bicycle language, sign language, pencil/paper for drawing and the waitress. Our relationship grew and Sugino was a major contributor to the success of WCC and Yasushi was a good friend. Yasushi Sugino was also a professional photographer; two of his published books are a part of this collection. Yasushi`s son, Kozo, is now managing the company. This picture is of Kozo Sugino and Howie at the WCC Cycle Rama Show in about 1972. More text & photos pending. See the picture gallery.
