Skyway`s initial facility was in Sylmar, CA where they manufactured the Tuff Wheels. Chuck Rodman was the leader of the company. His wife Beverly was in charge of accounting and his brother John was in charge of the production. They moved from Sylmar to a larger building in Redding, CA (Northern CA). At some point Skyway imported BMX complete bicycles which were distributed to Dealers. Chuck & Bev, Howie & Kay, Linn & Loretta (Kastan of Red Line fame) took a fun trip together to Australia where we visited Blair & Merle Shepherd (BMX Promotions of Brisbane, Australia www.bmxinternational.com.au). We spent a bit of time at Blair`s plantation resort and took a side trip to the Great Barrier Reef. Another SKYWAY brand bicycle was sold in America; it was produced by Bridgestone-Japan and distributed by C.Itoh & Co or New York. Additional text & pictures pending. See the picture gallery.
