| This is a custom built Schwinn Green Hornet built by Luke DeNitto in CA. Luke started with a 1968 Schwinn frame (serial number JD 51607) & fork (the springer fork is from the 1940s) which he had painted, and then he added the other parts on a step-by-step basis. The S-2 rims have 26x2.125 tires. Almost all of the parts are Schwinn except the Wald fenders & the reflectorized nurf bars. In my humble opinion this is a very sweet show-bike that is also a rider. Luke has also custom built several 26` Sting-ray bikes which are popular with old-timers who want a neat cruising bike.This is what Luke said about his Green Hornet master piece:
Here is my Green Hornet...I call it a green hornet because of the television show years ago in the 60`s.
I picked this bike up at a local garage sale for 120..all it had was the springer fork, and chainguard. I thought I could use it as a loner or just a rat bike to ride around ...but the extra parts in my garage and from friends made it super cool.
I removed the aftermarket wheels and added a pair of 1995 Schwinn S-2`s that I had laying around in the garage that I had paid 100.00 for at a swap meet awhile ago.
Jim sold me the tank and horn for 150, the NOS Schwinn pedals for 30 and the rear rack for 90.
Howie sold me the reflectorbars with red reflectors for 90.00...I changed the reflectors for green which I found on eBay for 30.00
The Wald fenders I had in my garage still in the plastic...I found those for 35.00 at a swap meet last year.
For a total of 655 I have a very unique bike that when first purchased I hated the color, but I now I am enamored with it. That`s until someone offers me 600 ....Remember my motto....I buy high and sell low...I always make it up in volume. . . .Luke
