This is the receipt for a ticket for passage of a bicycle on the Erie RR line from Nutley-NJ (station #2221) to Newark-NJ (station #2209). The Erie Rail Road Company was chartered April 24, 1832. It has gone through several sales, mergers and bankruptcies, with name changes as as late as 1960 was still in business under the name of ERIE LACKAWANNA RAILROAD but in 1976 it was merged into the CONSOLIDATED RAIL CORP. It is interesting to note that a `Bicycle Ticket` was used very frequently between these two stations in the year 1896.
