This poster illustrates four lovely ladies bicycling on the famous Boardwalk in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Mayor Bacharack (maybe Bacharach, in office between 1930 and 1935-for the third time as mayor) arranged for the Boardwalk to be available for cyclists in the mornings until 10:00am. Notice the cycling sports attire worn by the ladies; split-skirts, sweaters, sox and sport shoes. The Chelsea Grill Restaurant is in the background. New Departure distributed posters to retail bicycle stores for point of purchase advertising. There were several different designs in this series. New Departure Coaster Brakes were invented by Harry Townsend & the Rockwell brothers (Albert & Edward) while they were employed by the New Departure Manufacturing Company. The dimensions are 16 x 25 inches. From the New Departure Press.
