The picture on this early c.1930`s large size poster is of a young lady sitting  on a strange contraption designed and built by C.H. Wurzbach of Carl`s Cycle Shop in Los Angeles. Judging from the sign on the rear of the contraption, the Cycle Shop was located in the beach area, possibly Hermosa Beach. New Departure distributed posters to retail bicycle stores for point of purchase advertising. There were several different designs in this series. New Departure Coaster Brakes were invented by Harry Townsend & the Rockwell brothers (Albert & Edward) while they were employed by the New Departure Manufacturing Company. The dimensions are 16 x 23 5/8 inches. The condition of this poster is quite poor with some tears and missing pieces. The photo qualifies for the cheesecake bicycle photo category of Howie`s collection, but it is not published on this web site.
