This is a photograph of a nameplate used and distributed by Mole Bros Bicycles of Los Angeles, CA. One of the brothers was Phil Mole Sr who in later years acquired the John T. Bill Co. This photo was included in a package of treasures that Pete Mole sent me. A little history: The John T. Bill Co of Los Angeles, founded in 1895, was acquired by Phil Mole Sr in 1950 and operated by him and his three children (Pete, Phil Jr. and Katie) plus several other employees including Bill Kindig (warehouse manager) until 1987. Pete and Howie are long time business associates and friends. Our fathers, Phil Mole Sr. and Leo Cohen Sr., did a considerable amount of business together starting in 1947.  John T (as the company was affectionately referred to by Dealers & suppliers) was well respected by members of the Bicycle Industry. Over the years John T distributed bicycles by Pierce, Armstrong, Raleigh, Columbia, Rollfast, Olmo, Webco, Hutch and a wide selection of domestic and imported parts and accessories. As I write this text in February of 2009, Pete is still active in the Bicycle Industry; he is the General Manager of Dahon USA, the amazing company famous for developing folding bicycles. See more details about Pete Mole and the John T. Bill Co. in ‘Stories from Howie’ a separate section of this website. The dimensions of the photo are 4 7/8 x 7 7/8 inches.
