Item# Maruka Machinery [Maruka Machinery] Categories: Who's Who-Exporters, | |
| | Since Howie Cohen's passing, no items are for sale. | | Maruka was a large trading company exporting heavy and light machinery from Japan to many foreign countries. They also had obtained a substantial quantity of `quota` for exporting bicycles. (Japan had a self imposed quota system which restricted the quantity of bicycles exported to America; contact Howie for more detailed information about this). Maruka partnered with Kawamura Cycles and used their quota to export American Eagle and then Nishiki bicycles to WCC. Howie worked closely with several employees at Maruka including; Matsushita-san, Nakamata-san, Katsumata-san, Tanabe-san, Otsuka-san, Maeda-san, and others. This picture is of Howie introducing and thanking Mr. Tanabe at the WCC 1972 Cycle Rama Show. More pictures and text pending. See the picture gallery. |
