 | | Since Howie Cohen's passing, no items are for sale. | This letter titled THE PLEASURES OF BICYCLING IN AND AROUND NEW YORK by Cyclana is from the personal collection of Dr. Roland Geist. The fonts (letters) are not dark and the size limit of this web site program are such that in order for you to be able ro read the text you should go to the very large image in the picture gallery. The gist of the letter is that the government and police in and around New York are NOT bicyclist friendly. In fact, they are anti-bicyclist. The last two sentences of the letter is WHERE ARE OUR NATIONAL CYCLING ASSOCIATIONS? WHY NO PROTESTS?
Remember that this letter was written about conditions existing during WW-II. It is probable that letters and protests such as this are partly or maybe largely responsible for the League of American Wheelmen (now renamed League of American Bicyclists), Bicycle Institute of America and other organizations & individuals becoming stronger advocates for bicyclists.
