The Huffman Mfg Co was one of the corporate names that this important USA bicycle factory used during its life span. The company started from the Davis Sewing Machine Co of New york which was purchased in 1888 by George P. Huffman. In 1889 the company was moved from NY to Dayton, OH where in 1892 the initial Davis Sewing Machine brand bicycles were produced. The DAYTON brand was started in the 1890s & early 1900s. In 1897 Frank T. Huffman succeeded George P (after his passing). In 1908 Horace M. Huffman Sr. was named Service Parts Manager. In 1915 Davis supplied bicycles to the USA troops. In 1941 Horace Huffman Jr. (aka Huffy) was elected VP & General Manager. In 1955 Huffy moved to Celina, OH and the Radio Bicycle was introduced. Additional information and pictures pending. See the picture gallery. Howie was fortunate to have known Horace `Huffy` and Bob Huffman because of the B.I.A. (Bicycle Institute of America).
