Howie met Mr. & Mrs. T.Goto in the 1960`s when Keizo Kozaki guided me to their home & business facility. Mr. & Mrs Goto worked hand-in-hand; their company produced the very beautiful & popular plastic woven bicycle baskets. They would allow and assist Howie in designing many different sizes, shapes and colors so WCC had a vast range of these fast selling baskets. the three Goto children (Mari, Mami & Yasuyuki) were always around and Howie would sometimes play Frisbee with Yasuyuki. The family visited WCC and the Cohen family in L.A.; we had a wonderful time together visiting Disneyland and other sites. The Goto`s produced baskets for many other USA bicycle companies; the production was done outside in what was called a cottage industry. The basket illustrated here is simply an example of one of the simple models produced by Goto. Bicycle baskets were supplied with leather or vinyl straps for attaching to the handlebars.
