Marriott (of the firm Humber, Marriott & Cooper of Nottingham) riding his Humber Tricycle together with Mr. Alfred F. Bird (of Moseley in Birmingham) on his bicycle. They rode all day and the route included hills. they averaged 9 1/2 miles per hour over the 71 mile course.
