An Italian rear derailleur that is shifted by use of a steel rod that was clamped to the seatstay tube. The hanging bracket attached to the rear axle at the frame drop out. The control rod is in two lengths with a swivel joining the two pieces. The length of the lower piece is approximately 6 1/2 inches; the upper piece is approximately 13 7/8 inches. There are clamps with fasteners for attaching the rod to the frame tube. The printing on the name plate is somewhat faded and the first letter of the bottom word is illegible but I believe the printing is: MECCANCAMBIO BREVETT BUCCHINI. These pictures were taken before any cleaning or restoration.

The following information came from friend Frank Berto and page 166 of his wonderful book 'The Dancing Chain', second edition, The History and Development of the Derailleur Bicycle

This is a drawing by Daniel Rebour that came from page 7 of the November 27, 1948 issue of Le Cycle; coverage of the 1948 Milan Cycle Show. The exact text of the caption is:
"14. Le MECCAN CAMBIO est a commande rigide et comporte, comme LE CYCLO, une rampe helicoidal."
In his report of the show, Daniel said "Il y a les imatateurs qui ont substitue, sur on appareil a enroulement de chaine et tendeur, une commande rigide parallele au hauban a la classique transmission par cable (Meccan Cambio par example.)"
