St. George Cooper was a gentleman, entertainer and good bikeman. He worked for Schwinn starting in the early-mid 1950`s until he sadly passed away in 1978 while based out of Jacksonville, FL. He was the factory representative for the 9 south-eastern states and enjoyed a great relationship with the Schwinn Dealers in his territory. Cindy, one of his daughters, said it best; St. George was the link between the Schwinn Factory and the Dealers. He had the same type responsibilities as Bill Flannelly who was the Schwinn rep in the western states. St. George reported to Bill Chambers who was one of the most popular Schwinn guys with bike dealers nation wide.  I met St. George on several occasions at various bicycle industry functions, one of which was at Boca Raton, FL during the Bicycle Institute of America (BIA) Convention during the late 1950`s or early 1960`s. This picture is of St. George and Sarah taken at the 1957 BIA Boca Convention. Three of his children are still living as of 2011; Stan, Cindy & Georgette.
Stan Cooper
filled me in on some interesting history:
(1) St. George`s first wife & mother of the Cooper children, Sarah, passed away in 1966 from emphysema; she was a smoker who couldn`t give it up. Sometime in 1967 St. George went to make a Dealer Visit to Joe`s Bike Shop in Hattiesburg, Mississippi when he learned that Joe Adams (proprietor) had passed away. Joe`s widow, Martha Hedricks Adams, who did the bookkeeping for the store, and St. George hit it off well and later became husband & wife. Martha Cooper became the stepmother of the Cooper children and the relationships blossomed between all of them.
(2) Stan Cooper is now retired and quite active in the bicycle industry. He cycles, builds custom frames and attends several bicycle industry functions. He is the proud owner of a Waterford bicycle made for him by Richard Schwinn and three Schwinn Paramounts, one of which is a 1940 which was restored by Richard Schwinn.
Cindy Cooper (not her married name) kindly contacted me which enabled this listing to be made.
St. George Cooper was very well liked and respected in the bicycle industry. See the picture gallery.

This picture was taken in front of Mack's Cycle in Miami, Florida. St. George is standing behind and between two charming women; he is the third from the right. Notice the attractive skirts with bicycle designs being worn by the two gals in front (next to the cyclist on a bike).
