| The city and year of the first inclusion of mountain biking into the Olympic Games. The image on this coin is that of the saluting, shouting, victorious rider, and shows the internal organs that so vitally relate to the athletic effort: heart, lungs, liver, and digestive tract, while the major musculature groups are represented by dot pattern. This x-ray art is done in the style of the Australian aborigine, for whom the pictorialization of the organs serves as an important visual cue (in the absence of a written language) during the oral teaching of traditional hunting practices.
