This is a brochure for the Swiss Condor brand bicycles. There are also Condor brand bicycles produced in England and Mexico. This Swiss brochure is a single sheet printed on both sides; it is folded so there are six panels (pages). Although it is not dated, it appears that it is for bicycles offered in the late 1940`s or early 1950`s. At the time the factory sold bicycles directly to consumers and offered easy payment plans. My Swiss-TX friend, Andre Bohren, an avid veteran aged cycllist, learned to ride his first bicycle on his mother`s Condor lady`s bike in the early 1950`s. The Swiss Condor company was founded in 1893 in Courvaivre, Switzerland by a Frenchman, Edouard Scheffer and his brother Jules; the name of the 1893 company was SCHEFFER FRERES (brothers Scheffer). The company produced bicycles and motorcycles. At some point in their history the company decided to use the large bird indigenous to the Andes as the logo and CONDOR brand bicycles was born. Andre acquired this brochure in Switzerland and kindly sent it to me for my collection. The brochure is presented in a plastic protector as can be seen in this picture. The dimensions when unfolded are 17 1/4 x 8 1/8 inches, when folded each panel is 5 3/4 x 8 1/8 inches. See the picture Gallery.
