1899 Crescent Bicycles Catalog, Western Wheel Works, Chicago (Reproduction not an Original) |
|
| A PROFESSIONALLY REPRODUCED REPRINT AVAILABLE TO SELL! Crescent brand bicycles were manufactured by the Western Wheel Works of Chicago, IL. This is their 24 page catalog for the 1899 season. Officers of the company at the time were R. Lindsay Coleman, Pres., Otto Unzicker, V.P., and L. Scheffler, Secy & Treas. The outside back cover bears a rubber stamp with a selling agent; McAfee & McMaster on Main St in Nashua, New Hampshire. The centerfold contains a picture of the exterior of the Chicago factory and lists some interesting information: (1) Chronological History starting in 1872, and (2) their annual unit sales for the years 1894-1898. Several pages are devoted to text & illustrations featuring the construction of their frames, forks and component parts, with splendid illustrations of many components, including the chainless mechanism and the Crescent unique crank system. Six (6) different bicycles are illustrated and detailed specifications are listed. It is convenient to possess a quality reproduction catalog at a reasonable cost whether or not you own an `original` or until such time that you are able to acquire an `original`. With the reproduction you can handle the pages and read the text without the worry of damaging or degrading an `original`. The reference material herein is a good addition to any Vintage Bicycle Collector’s library. The dimensions are 5 1/2 x 8 inches. |
