A 108 page catalog filled with bicycles, tricycles, autos, trucks, juvenile wheel goods, component parts and accessories. Island Cycle was a full stocking distributor (jobber) supplying to hundreds of retailers with everything needed to operate a successful and profitable bicycle store. They stocked the full line of Rollfast bikes and skates as well as several other important brands.  A LITTLE HISTORY: I spoke to Tom Kieffer by phone to obtain part of this history. The company was founded by George and Arthur H. Johnson (Art) shortly after WWI. George had a bike shop before the war and wanted to get back into the bike business after his discharge. One of the other brothers, Ed Johnson, was one of the employees and Art`s wife, Helen (Tom`s mother) also worked at the company. In 1962, Art`s step-son, Tom Kieffer started working at the company and in the mid 1980`s when Art became ill, Tom and his wife Karen accepted the management role. The next catalog published by Island after this 1938 masterpiece was in 1990 when Tom decided it was time for a new updated catalog. Tom sold Island Cycle to J & B Importers in 2001 and the name of the company was changed to J & B Midwest; they are still doing a bang-up business with the Dealers in the Midwest area. J & B is one of the most respected and valuable independent distributors in the USA. Back to 1939; my father, Leo Cohen Sr. who started his bicycle business in Minneapolis in 1939 by buying a used bike for $5.00 obtained the majority of his products from Island Cycle. In the 1950`s my dad spoke highly of Art Johnson and I had the pleasure of visiting Island Cycle in the 1980`s. The condition is very good, the dimensions are 8 3/8 x 10 3/4 inches.
