Dick Burke was well known and well respected in the bicycle industry worldwide. He is and will continue to be missed by the thousands of friends and business associates who were fortunate enough to be able to say, *I knew him. The loss to his family can be partially felt in the way the family memorialized his life in the Memorial Booklet that was distributed to attendees at The Celebration of the Life of Dick Burke* on March 17, 2008 which was held at the Milwaukee Youth Arts Center, just one of Dick`s many philanthropic projects. I am grateful to Scott McCaskey, friend and fellow collector who did attend the Celebration, for sending me a copy of the Memorial Booklet. The front cover of the Memorial Booklet is shown in this image; the balance of the 23 pages are shown in the picture gallery; they are worth reading. I was fortunate to have been able to work with Dick during Trek`s acquisition of the Gary Fisher Bicycle Company in the early 1990`s. I can personally attest to his integrity and fair dealing manner; he was a gentleman and a pleasure with whom to do business. Dick developed and left behind a well organized company that is serving the world with high quality bicycles. His son, John Burke, has been capably leading Trek since 1998 as CEO. Under John`s leadership Trek has continued to be the forerunner of bicycle business supplying bicycles to Independent Bicycle Dealers in many countries around the world. May the Big Guy rest in peace.
