This New Departure Model-A coaster brake has a 40-hole hub shell. It appears to be complete minus the brake arm strap. I cleaned it up a little and used a wire brush trying to determine the original finish. It was not black and I don`t think it was chrome. I am told it is nickel plated finish. The sprocket is is 20T x 1/2 inch; one tooth is broken. The text on the brake are is NEW DEPARTURE COASTER BRAKE PAT`D. Being a 40-hole coaster brake it was most likely used on a British bicycle with wood or steel-clad wood rims. See the picture gallery.
