AVAILABLE TO SELL! This is a close reproduction of the famous 1970 Androck Baseball Bat Holder accessory which was designed for use on high-riser bikes having a Polo Seat (aka Banana Seat or Sting-Ray Seat). This side-by-side picture of an original (on the left) and the reproduction (on the right) shows how close they are matched. The bat holder consists of two pieces:
(1) The lower holder (wire cup or spring cone) attaches to the frame using the bolt for the fender brace or to the rear axle. This cup is produced using a heavy gauge wire and is chrome plated.
(2) The upper holder is a chrome plated ring-loop & clamp assembly that slides over the bat handle (or other similar item), see the illustration on the label in the picture gallery. It clamps onto the Polo Seat truss bar or sissy bar.
The entire unit is chrome plated. It is difficult to differentiate between the original and this close reproduction. The significant differences between the original and this reproduction are:
•The truss-bar-clamp of the reproduction will fit 1/2, 5/8 or 3/4 inch outside diameter (O.D.) truss bars; the original only fit 1/2 inch truss bars. Some of the truss bars and/or Sissy Bars were 5/8 inch and a few were 3/4 inch.
•The wing nut on the reproduction is forged; the wing nut of the original was stamped.
•The welds on the reproduction are MIG (metal inert gas); the welds on the original are spot.
•The chrome plating on one side of the spring cup is slightly different from the other side.
•The reproductions are packaged in an attractive see-through display tube; the originals were packaged in an attractive printed display box.
