I`ve been an avid light-tackle fisherman since I was 15-years old. My Dad took me Albacore fishing off the California coast and I was `hooked` on the sport. A friend of my parents, Maury Baum, would let me tag along with him every Sunday on the `Sport King` out of Norm`s Landing in San Pedro; he and the crew taught me plenty. This is a picture of my largest catch ever; it was out of Kona, HI on the “CATCHEM I” skippered by Chuck Haupert. It’s a 325 lb Marlin; I was using 30 lb test line. It was a “stand-up” catch with Kay toweling me off. I asked to have the fish released alive but Chuck shot it as he wanted to have the meat used for some purpose. The fish was foul-hooked and I never could have landed it without Chuck’s expert boat handling & fishing skills.
