Item# 1961AmBicyArticle [1961AmBicyArticle] Categories: West Coast Cycle Supply Co (WCC or WCCSC) (Howie's family business), | |
| | Since Howie Cohen's passing, no items are for sale. | | WCC moved into a 30,000 square foot 3-story building from the 6th Street facility in January of 1960. The first floor contained the offices, showroom, picking stock, and shipping department. The second floor was for over-stock of parts/accessories and wheel building. The third floor was for bicycles, tricycles, autos/tractors and other wheelgoods (we distributed AMF Roadmaster Bicycles and Wheel Goods and imported lightweight bicycles including Hercules). A little history; Mike Taich (who worked with Dad in Mpls, MN) was in charge of the warehouse. Leo Jr. and Howie were in sales and assisted in the warehouse. Howie`s sister, `Puss` did the accounts receivable invoicing and bookkeeping. RosaBelle Cohen (Rosie) did the accounts payable and accounting supervision. The entire family assisted Dealers that came in to purchase and pick-up their orders; good service to customers was the top priority. Herb Gold & Tommy Griffin (previously with The Merry Co.) were the lead sales guys; they had lots of experience and were well-liked by the California Dealers. The wholesale business expanded very quickly after moving into this building. See the picture gallery. |
